History That Divides, History That Unites
As a community college, some aspects of our unique mission is to provide outreach, build connections, and provide various educational/learning opportunities for the public. We have recently launched a web-based public history component that will foster unity between the campus and the community, provoke discussion of sensitive historical topics, and attempt to make sense of national, state, and local historical events. The first project is broadly scripted in order to engender wider interest in and use of the project’s resources as well to allow students taking a variety of classes to participate. This public history component will be an interdisciplinary project that links faculty, students, activists, and the general public together to examine, discuss, and debate major issues in history, particularly as to the effects in Houston and on the people we serve in Houston with clear class applications. If you are interested in participating in this project in any way, please contact me at james.rossnazzal@hccs.edu or 713-718-7131. There is a place for you at HCC!
