Courses
Houston Community College - Southeast - is certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) as a CHW teaching site for the following courses that leads to CHW certification :
1. Community Health Worker (CHW), a 160 hour course leading to certification by the TDSHS - taught in the classroom with field experience
2. Community Health Worker (CHW) Instructor , a 160 hour course, leading to certification by the TDSHS, taught in the classroom or via Distance Education (DE), with field experience
3. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for both groups, available in the classroom or via DE,
Recertification by the TDSHS requires 10 hours of learning at a TDSHS certified site.
