Daniel G. Donalson Professor of History, Houston Community College - Southeast
Teaching History is, for me, the culmination of a life-long dream after 30 years in IT. I received my BA in Management Information Systems (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, in 1993 and was recognized as the 1993 Outstanding Graduate in MIS. Though still working in IT at the time, I shifted the emphasis of my studies to history and political science for my Masters of Liberal Arts degree, which I completed in 1997. I am presently working on a Ph.D. in US History at the University of Houston. I anticipate completing the final course work and my Comprehensive Examination in November 2006. My dissertation, A Convenient Engine of Oppression, investigates the ways the Espionage and Sedition Acts of World War I were used for unintended purposes to the detriment of our civil liberties.
In addition to teaching and studying history, I am also a beekeeper, a winemaker, science-fiction writer and published author.
